Fly Fishing Today Contrary to common conceptions, fly fishing is not limited to trout streams. In fact, today's fly angler pursues virtually every species of fish that swims, from bass and bream to tarpon and sailfish. Georgia, in addition to its 2300 miles of trout streams, has great fishing throughout the state for species including largemouth and striped bass. Nearby saltwater species include tarpon, redfish and seatrout. The Flint River Fly Fishing School will give you a solid background for all types of fly fishing, covering every aspect of the sport from equipment to tactics. After 2 days here, you'll be ready to go home and fish your favorite water or travel to those spots you have dreamed of fishing. |

Fly Fishing The Flint River Beginning just south of Atlanta, the Flint River flows southward to join the Chattahoochee near the Florida line and form the Apalachicola River. Incredible though it may be, the Flint is one of only forty rivers in the United States that flows over 200 miles without a dam. And a magnificent river it is. The Flint is home to many unique species, including the rare shoal bass. The shoal bass requires natural flowing rivers and shallow shoals and is a perfect quarry for the fly. Come fish for them with us on one of the Flint's most beautiful sections at Camp Thunder. |

Kent Edmonds is a
full-time fly fishing guide and instructor. The owner and operator of
Fly Fishing West Georgia & Beyond (www.flyfishga.com),
he guides fly fishing trips at Callaway Gardens, on the Chattahoochee
River (striped bass), on the Flint River (shoal bass), and on north
Georgia trout streams. In the last 35 years, fishing has taken him from
the Northwest to the Caribbean, from the South Pacific to New England,
but he finds the widest variety and best year-round opportunities here
in West Georgia. He is a lead instructor at the Callaway Fishing
Schools, and is a regular seminar presenter at regional fly-fishing
expos. His articles have been published in national and regional fishing
and outdoor magazines, and he writes
Having grown up in a fly
fishing family, Paul Hudson has been fly fishing since age six
from the Missouri Ozarks, to North Carolina, to Colorado. Since then he
has fished from coast to coast and has a special love for inshore salt
water fly fishing. His teaching resume
includes the Callaway Gardens Fly Fishing School, the Orvis fly fishing
schools and Auburn University’s Fly Fishing Program. Paul is a supporter
of the Federation of Fly Fishers, Trout Unlimited, and Coastal
Conservation
Jason Stacy is an Alabama native where he grew up fly fishing in the lakes and rivers of the region. His quest for fly rod quarry has taken him from the N. Atlantic to the Caribbean and throughout the Appalachian and Rocky Mountains. He has caught over 30 species on the fly rod, yet his passion is casting to the native warm-water species of the Southeast. Jason was a finalist in the Fly Fishing Masters national competition and has been featured on national fly fishing shows.
From bluegill to bonefish and tarpon to trout, there is no fish on earth that Carl Warmouth is not passionate about pursuing with a fly rod. Carl’s history in fly fishing dates back to 1979. He was as an Orvis Endorsed Guide on the small trout streams and big tailwater rivers of Tennessee for a number of years. Carl is one of fewer than 100 FFF Certified Master instructors world-wide, and is on the board of the FFF Southeastern Council. He is a freelance writer whose articles have appeared in numerous national and local fishing, outdoor, and travel magazines. He is also on the editorial staff of Fly Fish America magazine. Through the years he has been featured on several television fishing shows with some of fishing’s biggest name celebrities, but what he enjoys most is sharing his experience and love for the sport with others. |
