Callaway 2007 Fly Fishing Schools

Learn to fly fish or take your skills to the next level at the Callaway Fly Fishing School. These two-day intensive schools include time in the classroom, on the casting lawn, and on the water fishing. Accommodations are available, and there is lots for the whole family to do. So come make a weekend of it, have fun, learn a lot, and catch some fish!

February 24 & 25 – Spring is just around the corner. Now is the time to learn or refine your fly fishing skills – come prepared for some of the finest fishing of the year.  This class will include time spent fishing for rainbow, brown and brook trout.

March 24& 25  -- Callaway Gardens is blushed with its world famous azalea bloom – and brimming with flowers and fish.  Bass and bream are now nearing their peak activity and trout are still active. The peak of the fishing season is at hand.

April 14 & 15The azaleas are beginning to fade but the fishing is hot, hot, hot!  This school affords you another great opportunity to enjoy the beauty of spring while learning the great sport of fly fishing.

May 5 & 6  - Perhaps the most beautiful time of year, Callaway’s plate size bream are in full action now!

June 2 & 3– June is prime time for fly-fishing in most parts of the country.  Aquatic insect hatches are beginning to come off now.  Callaway Gardens is an excellent location to get prepared for this incredible event and welcome summer.

July 7 & 8– It’s summer vacation time!  Why not bring the whole family for a weekend together to learn an amazing sport to enjoy for life? Children 12 and up are welcome to enroll in the class with adult supervision. Bring a Boy Scout along and fulfill the requirements for the new fly fishing badge installed in 2002. We’re still working on the Girl Scouts!

August 4 & 5Because of the popularity of our summer schools, we will offer another one this year.  If you can’t make it in June or July, plan to attend this one!

September 22 & 23Fall is spectacular at Callaway Gardens.  Pine Mountain is ablaze with the roaring reds and golds of autumn.  Mountain Creek Lake is home to some giant red-ear sunfish (shellcrackers).  Common catches include 2-3 lb. shellcrackers on the fly rod.  What better time to learn to fly fish?

October 20 & 21 The warm days and cool nights of fall are in full swing. Bass & bream are enjoying the cooler temperatures...and are incredibly active.

November 17 & 18 - The very last opportunity of the year to catch our two-day school and a spectacular time of year to visit Callaway.

Cost of our schools will be $295.00 per student for both days.  Price includes use of premium equipment during the school, and a delicious catered lunch on both days.
